Clean Bay, Public Ownership, Properous Community
The Bellingham Bay Foundation unites local conservation, business and cultural leaders—people you often don't sit on the same side of the table—precisely because we believe that an opportunity this unusual cannot be addressed in the usual ways.

Our diverse, 13-member board includes downtown business owners, real estate developers, tribal representatives, conservationists, artists and authors, in addition to two staff members who work from an office sixty feet east of the Georgia-Pacific mill site.

We’re also supported and advised by many community members and experts.
Clean and green
We have hired one of the state's leading toxicologists, Greg Glass, to monitor and review the cleanup plans (called Remedial Investigations/ Feasibility Studies or RI/FSs) that the Port of Bellingham is developing. We’ll always insist on the highest level of cleanup that is practical.

Local, long-term
We are advocating for innovative uses that build on Bellingham's unique qualities, including parks, habitat restoration, and research and educational institutions, and environmentally friendly corporations that will be the economic drivers for Bellingham for the next century.

For the community, by the community
We are working on plans to develop the GP site in public ownership for two reasons: first, to ensure that the increasing value of the land accrues to the taxpayers who are funding cleanup and development, and second, to capitalize on the site's outstanding economic potential.

Public process
As a citizen’s group, we take public involvement in government decision-making very seriously. We’re seeking to ensure that the public’s voice in this public process is not ignored or manipulated.
